Shares in Asia declined Tuesday morning as tensions between the United States and China intensified after Beijing decided to raise duties on some American goods. Mainland Chinese shares slipped in early trade, with the Shanghai composite fractionally lower and the Shenzhen component shedding 0.44%. The Shenzhen composite declined 0.266%.
Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index fell nearly 2% as shares of Chinese tech giant Tencent dropped more than 2.5%.
